I would like to introduce myself by telling you how much I love penguins. Most people would agree that they are cute and would probably crack a joke about how the “poor little critters can’t fly”. Well, have you ever stopped to think that you can’t fly either? I bet you don’t feel sorry for yourself concerning that fact!
Penguins are more than just cute. Yes, they are birds and can’t perform the one function that birds are known for (aka flying). However, penguins happen to possess amazing qualities that no “normal” group of birds can dream of. Penguins travel great distances, by foot, just to lay eggs. The penguins huddle together in little groups to keep warm and even rotate positions in the warmest spot so each penguin gets a turn. Penguins remain in monogamous relationships while they are breeding and go to great lengths, as a team, to protect their eggs. Finally, my favorite thing about penguins is their ability to swim underwater. Actually, they “fly” through the water. You have to admire the penguin for being different and finding a new way to take flight. Instead of being labeled the birds that can’t fly, they decided to be the birds who can swim. They don’t mind that they aren’t like the other birds. I mean, have you ever seen an unhappy penguin? I doubt it.
I don’t just like penguins, I admire them. Especially at this point in my life when finding a job is difficult and being different is even more difficult. I want to have the heart and style of the penguin. I want to find a path less taken like the penguins. Most importantly, I want the joy of the penguins.
Oh, and learning how to slide on my belly across the ice would be fun too!

I love the way you compare humans to penguins in your first paragraph but have to disagree… i feel VERY sorry for my self because I can’t fly! That would be SOO ausome
But i still get what you mean
Merci! You can fly…just in a different way! Of course, there’s always airplanes as well. So no more feeling sorry for yourself!
